What to expect at a Mastectomy Fitting
You are able to see a post mastectomy fitter 6-8 weeks after
surgery; or when your doctor says it is time, your surgery
area should be completely healed.
At the fitting you will be seen by a certified fitter. They
are trained to fit bras and prosthesis, know which prosthesis
is best for your type of surgery, and can handle any special
circumstances you may have.
A fitting may take 1-2 hours. Think in Pink we carry a full
line of breast prosthesis products.
Full prosthesis, partials, light weight, attachable's, swim
forms, surgical bras, camisoles and bathing suits.
We also have certified fitters for compression stockings,
sleeves and gauntlets. It is best to talk with your doctor
for recommendations.
It is also advised that you check with your insurance company
regarding what your policy covers.
Lymphoedema
Lymphoedema is characterized by excessive swelling of a body
part. The lymphatic system is injured, and can no longer remove
fluid from the body tissues. This accumulation of the lymph

Q: How often can I get a new prosthesis & surgical
bras?
A: Most insurance will cover a new prosthesis every two
years and two bras every year.
Q: Do I need a new prescription everytime I purchase a
new prosthesis and surgical bras?
A: Yes, we need a RX every time for Pharmacare as well as
private insurances.
Q: How long will my prosthesis last?
A: Most prosthesis are warranted for two years from the
manufacture; however with proper use care and storage your
breast form should provide years of comfortable wear.
Q: How do I care for my breast form?
A: Treat it as you would care for your body. We recommend
that your form should be hand wash daily with mild soap
and pat dry. It should be stored in the specially designed
breast form box.
