| The cancer society says that hair loss due to cancer treatment
varies according to the treatment and the patient. If hair
loss does occur it usually begins within two weeks of the
start of therapy. And accelerates one to two months into the
treatment.
If you are considering a wig, you may want to match your
current hair color, so it is a good idea to come in before
treatment begins or at the very start of treatment. Be sure
to get a prescription from you’re doctor for a wig because
it is often covered by insurance. Even if you wear a wig for
work or going out, you will want something soft and easy around
the house. Turbans, soft hats, and scarves are perfect. We
also carry sun protective clothing and hats that block up
to 97% of the UVA and UUB ultraviolet rays and they look great!
WIG CARE
- Do not expose your wig to excessive heat. (Like opening
the oven door, standing near a barbecue grill, etc.) Any
type of heat will cause wig fibers to frizz (lamps, stoves/oven,
heat from your body)
- Do not brush your wig when it is wet
- Do not use products designed for regular human hair. Only
use wig shampoo, wig conditioner, wig hair spray, wig mousse,
and brushes and combs made especially for wigs.
- Do not use bleaches, colors, or rinses on your wig.
- We do not recommend wearing your wig in the swimming pool.
- Do not use any form of curling irons, hot rollers, or
blow dryers. Again heat will ruin the wig...
